Griffin International Recalls Wii Charge Stations
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that certain Wii Charge Stations produced by Griffin International Companies are being recalled. Griffin International is offering FREE replacements for the recalled units.
Approximately 220,000 Wii Charge Stations have been found to potentially heat up and potentially cause a burning or fire hazard.
Not all Wii Charge Stations pose this risk. The charge stations effected by the recall are the Psyclone (PSE6501) and the React (RT530). You will be able to find the model number of your unit on the bottom of the dock station you plug your remotes into for charging.
The offending units were manufactured in China...yet another product out of China that is posing a risk to consumers.
From January 2008 and July 2009 the Psyclone units were distributed through Toys 'R' Us, Amazon.com and Target. While the React units were released through BestBuy stores.
The company has reported receiving six reports of overheating units and there have apparently been two consumers who received minor burns.
If you own one of these units you should immediately stop using the unit, unplug it from the wall and contact Griffin International for a FREE replacement unit. Griffin can be reached at 888-344-4702, or you can send them an email at productsafety@psyclonegamer.com, or visit www.psyclonegamer.com'/wii4dock.

I own a unit by NYKO, and I don’t know if it is a Griffin Internation unit. It was purchased at Best Buy, do I take it back there for a replacement unit?

Good morning Faye,
Thank you for your question. NYKO and Griffin International companies are separate companies. To be sure there wasn’t any private label agreement going on I checked Griffin International’s website and while they do have alliances with a number of companies they do not mention producing products for NYKO. If you still have a concern, you can call the toll free number listed in the article and they should be able to provide you with more information.

To many artists, ipad ought to be a desirable canvas. Anthropologically, utilized collectively, the mouse and keyboard are an unnatural user interface. Human beings are device customers.

I didn’t know about the recall until today….
My boys have been telling me that the controlers weren’t working for the wii so I went to check them out today and the battery packs are all real dark like they were burned. I tried to put regular batteries in and the controllers still don’t work. I have the React RT530 model. So now what do I do? Not only is it the charging station but all four of my controllers are fried!
